Heart Saver CPR

Course length 3-4 hours depending on class size

In strict accordance with the core curriculim of the American Heart Association this Heart saver CPR Course is a modular course.  We discuss infectious disease protection, the Good Samaritan Law, then we practice using an ABCD problem solving assessment of a victim:
  • A- airway (open/ maintain and protect)
  • B- breathing (rescue breathing with barrier device and BVM)
  • C- circulation (signs of circulation, effective chest compressions)
  • D- defribrillation- use of an AED (Automatic External Defribrillator)
  • We teach lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims.  Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack, stroke and breathing difficulties in children.

    Pediatric Basic Life Support

    Usually part of basic BLS/CPR, it can be requested seperately and is very popular with new parents, grandparents, and daycare providers.  The class emphasises child safety and injury prevention, and common pediatric problems including: Management for pediatric choking and techniques for Infant CPR (0-1 y/o) and Child CPR ( ages 0-8 y/o).

    BLS Healthcare Provider:  BLS / CPR / AED

    Course length 3 to 4 hours depending on class size

    In strict accordance with the core curriculum of the American Heart Association this class is intended for participants who provide health care to patients in a wide variety of settings, including in hospital and out of hospital. It is for certified or non certified, licensed or non licensed healthcare professionals.
    The BLS for Healthcare Provider Course is a modular course. We can disciss infectious diseaseprotection, the Good Samaritan Law then we teach ABCD problem solving assessment of victims:

  • A- airway (open/ maintain and protect)
  • B- breathing (rescue breathing with barrier device and BVM)
  • C- circulation (signs of circulation, effective chest compressions)
  • D- defribrillation- use of an AED (Automatic External Defribrillator)
  • AED (Automated External Defribrillator)

    AED can be taught seperately in 1 to 2 hours
    It is included in every BLS, CPR, ACLS or PALS course.

    The Automated External Deibrillator (AED) is a computerized medical device added to BLS, CPR for cardiac arrest victims.  An AED can, when properly connected, check a persons heart rhythm then recognizes a rhythm that requir e a shock.  It will advise the rescuer when and if a shock is needed.  The AED uses voice prompts, lights, and text messages to tell the rescuer the next steps to take.

    AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Course

    An 8 hour refresher or a 16 hour initial class. Times vary by class size.

    In strict accordance with the core curriculum of the American Heart Association our ACLS Provider Course provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage an adult cardiopulmonary arrest victim.

    Class Goals:
  • Develop proficiency in good BLS skills, including one and two rescuer CPR
  • Recognizing the signs and symptoms of Respiratory failure, Acute MI and Cerebral Vascular Accidents CVA's
  • Advanced airway skills (endotracheal intubation)
  • EKG's and Acute Myocardial Infarction patterns using 12 lead EKG's
  • Indications and use of cardioversion, pacemaker, and defibrillators.
  • All ACLS Drug indications/ doses/ precautions
  • Various arrhythmia recognition and treatment algorithms
  • Demonstate knowledge and skills as team leader in a Megacode.
  • The lectures  and case discussions are designed as a review of the material that is to be known before coming to class.  There is an emphasis of cardiac causes of arrest, particularly heart rhthym abnormalities.

    The Advanced Cardiac Life Support pre course manual and other pertinent material will be made available to you prior to class.  Successful completion of ACLS depends on a minimum score of 84% on the written evaluation and proficiency in the scenario and skills evaluation stations.  Students are responsible for studying the material in the pre course handouts and the textbook before attending any of the lectures.  Pre course preparation by completing the ACLS study guide is essential.

    *You must come well prepared to complete the program satisfactorily

    PREREQUISITES:
    A candidate may affirm either by course completion card, by letter from a BLS instructor or personal written statement that he or she previously completed a Basic Life Support Provider Course prior to ACLS or PALS.


    Pediatric Advanced Life Support

    An 8 hour refresher or 16 hour initial class.  Times vary by class size.

    In strict accordance with the core curriculum of the American Heart Association our Pediatric Advanced Life Support course provides the knowledge and skills needed to evaluate and manage a pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest victim.

    Class Goals:
  • Anatomical and treatment differences between Adults and Children.
  • Pediatric specific cardiopulmonary assessment.
  • Develop proficiency in good BLS skills, BLS then ALS treatment priorities.
  • IV fluids I/O venous access
  • Advanced airway skills (endotracheal intibation)
  • Various arrhythmia recognition and treatment algorithms
  • Indications and use of cardioversion, pacemaker, and manual defibrillators.
  • All ACLS Drug indications/ doses/ precautions (broslow tape)
  • Demonstate knowledge and skills as team leader in a Megacode.
  • Because they are the most frequent cause of Pediatric cardiac arrest, our emphasis is in avoiding respiratory failure and shock through good airway maintenance, IV fluids, I/O venous access and weight based medications dosing.

    An A.H.A. PALS manual will be made available and pre course material will be sent to you prior to class.

    Pre Course preparation by completing the PALS study guide is essential.  Successful completion of PALS depends on a minimim score of 84% on the written evaluation and proficiency in the scenario and skills evaluation stations.

    OSHA Blood Borne Pathogens

    Course length 3-4 hours, depending on class size.

    This course provides training as required by OSHA's Blood Borne Pathogens Standard (29CFR 1910.1030).  Material covered in the course includes definitions of blood borne pathogens, modes of transmission, universal precautions, engineering and work practice controls, exposure control plans, hepatitis B vaccinations, and other information needed to ensure worker safety.

    First Aid: Basic and Advanced

    Basic First Aid

    Course length 3-4 hours.  Times may vary to class size.

    Seperately or as an addition to BLS/ CPR, our Basic First Aid Course provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel.
    This is a course detailing management of basic injuries such as: broken bones, bleeding, burns, various madical and environmental emergencies, Diabetics, seizures, allergic reactions, heart attacks and hypothermia.
    This is a very suitable course for new parents, outdoor guides, daycare providers, and others interested in basic medical emergency recognition, prevention and management.  The course also provides a complete health safety training solution for First Aid, CPR, and AED.

    Advanced First Aid

    Course length 4-6 hours.  Times may vary to class size.

    In addition to the BLS, CPR and Basic First Aid, our Advanced First Aid course is a detailed course outlining treatment of patients suffering a wide variety of injury and medical problems, including assessing vital signs and oxygen administration.  Advanced First Aid relies heavily on practical sessions where students demonstrate and refine new skills by treating simulated patients.  It is a great choice for municipal responders, athletic teams, and others needing more sophisticated training.

    Basic Trauma Life Support (BTLS) or
    Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

    An 8 hour refresher or 16 hour initial class.  Times may vary to class size.

    This course includes lecture, teaching stations, and testing scenarios covering:

    Course length 6-8 hours
    An increasing number of children in school, child care, camp programs, and other community settings are receiving medications in out of the home settings. School personnel, child care providers, teachers, secretaries, directors or school principals, family child care providers, before and after school and camp personnel are administrering medications. The added responsibility of providing medications in these programs creates a potential health risk for the child and a potential liability risk for the caregiver.

  • IV Course

    This course is a 20 hour contact hour IV therapy course designed to meet or exceed the EMT Basic IV Curricukum published by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environmental Pre Hospital Care Program.
    The course explores:
  • The principles and techniques of IV therapy
  • Fluid and electrolyte balance
  • The manifestation of shock
    IV therapy technique is practiced both in the classroom and a clinical setting environment.
  • EKG Courses

    Basic EKG

    Course length: 16 Hours

    Starts with a brief overview of cardiac  anatomy and then provides the student with knowledge and skills necessary to analyze EKG tracings and identify common cardiac dysrhythmias. This course is available to anyone who may have use of EKG interpretation skills.

    Full EKG Class + 12 Lead

    First time student: 36 hours- (30 hours for an RN)

    A step by step system from the basic dysrhythmias to 12 Lead Interpretations, including axis and recognizing Myocardial Infarction patterns.

    Basic EKG Refresher

    Highly recommended prior to ACLS
    Course length 8 hours

    A review of basic dysrhythms. 12 Lead Interpretation, axis and Myocardial Infarction patterns

    Pet First Aid & CPR Course

    Course Length 4 to 6 hours
